Visual art is communication that transcends language. I am fascinated by the diversity of people in the world and the stories they have to tell. I want to create art that communicates those stories and the ideas that come from them. I want to make art that connects people, and facilitates understanding.
My Background
I am a graduate of the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia with a major in Graphic Design. I continue to study illustration every day through my own practice and through intense observation of the master artists of the past and present.
My Medium
I work in traditional and digital media. Each project determines the medium that presents it best. A good drawing based on good design is the basis for any illustration. After that is established, I finish the piece in one or a combination of watercolor, acrylic, oil, pen and ink, colored pencil, and digital illustration.
My Inspiration
Children see the world with fresh eyes and with honesty. They inspire me to keep growing and to stay curious. Writing and illustrating for them is rooted in a desire to create space where everyone belongs, a place to feel safe, loved, and understood.
How Can I Help You?
These galleries are samples of my work in children's literature, editorial illustration and corporate commission. If you believe my work would be a good fit for your project, I would be pleased to hear from you.
